Position Summary
The Staff Accountant role is part of the Finance and Accounting team, primarily supporting the Resort Operation businesses including, but not limited to non-for profit vacation ownership associations. This position is responsible for the monthly close process and preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations for the Hyatt Vacation Ownership (HVO) division.
Expected Contributions
- Preparation of reconciliations and journal entries for month end close
- Support senior or manager with budget preparations and forecasts
- Business partner with the resort operations teams
- Coordinate and support accounts receivable and accounts payable with the central teams
- Working with leadership to review audit schedules to prepare for annual audits and prepare workpapers
- Work with auditors and tax preparers
- Following departmental directives to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Driving process improvement to ensure efficiency and scalability
- Contributes to team, department and/or business results by performing the following types of tasks: journal entry compliance, adherence to account reconciliation policy, and partnering with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure organizational success.

Accounting and Controls
- Participate in month-end close process ensuring timelines are met, all required entries are recorded, and potential delays/issues are properly communicated and addressed with Leaders.
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are supported by appropriate documentation and comply with policies.
- Prepare data and information for annual external audit, including required schedules and ad-hoc requests.
- Ability to interpret standard GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).

Candidate Profile
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred; 1-3 years related work experience in finance and accounting; or,
- High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience
Experience:
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Excel
Skills and Attributes:
- Developed analytical and organizational skills
